Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most
For Clients
How do I hire a drone pilot?
Three simple steps: 1) Post your project (free) or browse pilots & services directly, 2) Compare quotes, profiles and ratings, then chat with the pilot you like, and 3) Confirm the booking — we generate a free legally-binding agreement and you pay securely through escrow. You only release the payment once you approve the deliverables.
How much does it cost to hire a drone pilot?
Pilots set their own rates, so pricing depends on the service, location, equipment and duration. Aerial photography and videography are typically charged per project or per day; surveys and mapping by area. Post a requirement to receive free, competitive quotes — or browse services with upfront day rates.
Which services can I book?
Aerial photography & videography, weddings & events, real estate and marketing, drone surveys & mapping (GIS/topographic), construction progress monitoring, infrastructure and solar/wind inspections, agriculture spraying and crop monitoring, and more. You can also post a custom requirement for anything aerial.
Are the agreements legally binding?
Yes. Every confirmed booking includes a free e-signature service agreement (powered by DocuSeal) covering scope, timeline, rates and deliverable acceptance — so both you and the pilot are protected.
How do payments work? Is it safe?
Payments are held in escrow and only released to the pilot after you approve the work. You never pay in advance for unapproved deliverables, and the terms of every job are documented in the service agreement.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes. If you need to cancel before work begins, contact the pilot and our support team right away. Cancellation terms are stated in each service agreement, and any escrow held will be refunded per those terms.
For Pilots
How do I join as a drone pilot?
Go to the 'Join as Pilot' page, create your free account and complete your pilot profile — add your bio, equipment, certifications, coverage area and your service listings with pricing. Once approved, you appear in search and start receiving project opportunities.
Is it free to join?
Yes. Creating an account, listing your profile and receiving project leads is free. You set your own rates and keep control of your pricing — there is no fee to get listed.
How do I get booked?
Complete your profile and add clear service listings with upfront pricing, keep your response time fast, and maintain strong ratings. Clients can also find you when they post a requirement — our smart matching recommends the most relevant pilots.
How do I get paid?
Client payments are held in escrow and released to you once the client approves the deliverables. Delivery and approval timelines are defined in the service agreement signed before work begins.
What licensing do I need?
You are responsible for holding the licences and permissions required to operate commercially in your country and region (for example DGCA approval in India, or an FAA Part 107 certificate in the US). Clients value verified, licensed pilots — add your certifications to your profile.
Can I offer weekly or monthly pricing?
Yes. In addition to a base day rate, you can set long-term weekly and monthly rates on each service, which makes you more attractive for recurring client work.
Platform & Safety
Which countries do you cover?
HireDronePilot is a worldwide marketplace. Clients can post projects from anywhere, and pilots from every country can list their services and coverage area.
How fast will I get a response from support?
We reply to [email protected] within 24–48 hours, usually sooner. For urgent booking issues, mention 'URGENT' in the subject line and we'll prioritise it.
How do you verify pilots?
Every pilot profile is reviewed before going live, and pilots can add verified certifications, licences and work experience to their profile. Clients also rate and review pilots after every completed job, so ratings reflect real experience.
What if something goes wrong with a delivery?
Contact the pilot first through our chat — most issues are resolved directly. If you can't reach an agreement, email [email protected] with your order details and we'll step in to help mediate and resolve.
